The models 1000 and 1000D Coats wheel balancers are designed for balancing automotive and light truck tires in high volume shops. The 1000 series balancers offer super fast 5 second cycle times, and 8 separate balancing modes for balancing steel and alloy wheels using a variety of wheel weight types and rim placements. The Coats 1000 series balancers also have the operator A and B feature so two technicians can both use the machine at once. Data is entered manually on the 1000 model using the convenient keypad; the 1000D model features automatic dimensioning using the distance guage which allows the computer on the balancer to measure the distance (offset measurement), and the wheel diameter, then on the 1000D model you just need to manually enter the wheel width. The model 1000D also has the extra "Stop-On-Top" feature which is designed to stop the spinning wheel with the outer weight application location near top-dead-center, if no imbalance is detected. The 1000 and 1000D models are both available with either 220 volt single phase or 220 volt three phase motors. The 1000 model has a 28mm balancer shaft only; the 1000D model is available with either a 28mm or 40mm balancer shaft as listed.
The 1000 And 1000D balancers have many shared features, in addition to the shared features listed below, the model 1000D is different in that it has the automatic dimensioning feature using the distance gauge which measures the distance (the offset measurement), and also calculates the wheel diameter allowing you to then just enter the wheel width. The model 1000 requires manual entry of all dimensions. Model 1000D also has the additional Stop-On-Top feature which is designed to stop the spinning wheel with the outer weight application location near top-dead-center, if no imbalance is detected. The extra features on the 1000D should allow for more efficiency and the highest volumes with this machine.
The model 1000 requires manual entry of the data; data entry however is quick and easy using the balancer's keypad on the balancer display. The 1000 model still gives you the features needed for a high volume shop. Both models have the same major components and features, and both give you a super-fast five second cycle time as well as the rest of the features listed below.
The machine is a two-plane microprocessor-based computer balancer; any imbalance in a wheel, either static or dynamic is resolved into two correction planes (usually inner and outer flanges of the wheel), where corrective weights can be applied. The location of these planes can be changed by pressing the Mode function and selecting either - Dynamic, Alloy, Static Or RV mode.
Balancer uses a 16 bit microprocessor to provide super fast 5 second cycle times, data entered on easy to use keypad
Unit has 8 separate balancing modes including: Dynamic balancing - the most common model used for passenger cars and light trucks, this mode tells the balancer that standard clip weights will be used on the inner and outer rim; RV balancing - use this mode to balance larger wheels that do not require balancing at 0.5 ounce or below; Alloy 1 - use this mode when clip weights on the rim flanges is not possible or customer requests hidden weights, tells balancer you are using 2 adhesive weights; Alloy 2 - when you can use a clip weight on the inner wheel flange and use adhesive weights for the outer weight; Alloy 3 - when clip weights cannot be used, using adhesive weights but they do not have to be hidden, tells balancer that you are using adhesive weights on the horizontal planes on both the inner and outer sides of the rim; Alloy 4 - use this mode when a clip weight cannot be used on the outer rim flange and hidden adhesive weights are not required, tells balancer you are attaching the adhesive weight to the horizontal plane on the outer edge of the wheel; Static balancing - balances the wheel using only a single weight plane, does not compensate for side to side vibration as a dynamic balance would; Match mount - determines the optimum positioning of the tire on the rim, so that a minimum amount of additional weight is required to balance the wheel, requires repositioning of the tire on the rim
Balancing A Wheel: When a wheel is spun, the balancer detects any imbalance present and calculates the weight needed to correct the imbalance and the location for the weight application. The amount of weight required is displayed on the control panel, and the weight positioning lights assist the operator in positioning the weight application location at Top-Dead-Center. Weight displays and positioning lights are provided for both the inner and outer planes of the wheel. The model 1000D has the Stop-At-Top feature to stop the spinning wheel with the outer weight application location near Top-Dead-Center, if no imbalance is detected.
