The Tractor/Skid Steer Mounted Hydraulic Post Driver mounts to either the front of your tractor with the front mounting kit, or mounts on the rear of the tractor's category 1, 2, or 3 three point hitch (depending upon the model) with the rear mounting kit, or quick attach mounting on skid steer loaders with the skid steer mounting kit. Three models are available, one perfect for your application; model HD-8 (The Pounder) for fence posts less than 7 inches in diameter, has 30,000 lbs. of impact force, the model HD-10 (The Workhorse) for fence posts larger than 7 inches in diameter, has 71,500 lbs. of impact force, and the model HD-12H (The Brute) for commercial fencing operations - The Brute has 100,000 lbs. of impact force.

Model HD-8 - The Pounder

• 30,000 lbs. impact at full stroke



• Effective weight of spring powered hammer is 360 lbs.



• Operating distance above ground is 53-126 inches, adjustable on all models



• Drives steel and wood posts, and railroad ties, maximum width is 7 1/8 inches, maximum length is 10 ft.

• The new Safety Arm Post Holder Attachment is now standard on all post drivers and is available to purchase to retro-fit to older models. Holds and centers the post in the post driver's main channel so you don't have to hold it in place by hand. This attachment fits on all models (HD8, HD10, and HD12).



• The Safety Arm Attachment fits all Shaver Model Post Drivers and is easy to attach. The unit bolts to the back of the Driving Ram with 2 Bolts provided. The spring-loaded attachment holds the post in the Driving Ram securely to keep the operator away from the impact area and helps the operator drive a straighter post from start to finish.



• The Safety Arm Attachment is very easy to operate. Just open the unit, place the post in the Driving Ram and close the Arm to secure the post. It’s that simple. The adjustable Roller Assembly allows the operator to keep the Arm at its desired tension during operation.



• Complete units consist of post driver ordered with either manual base plate or with hydraulic base plate, and mounting kit, plus any accessories.



• If you have mostly flat ground, then the manual base plate with handles for adjusting angle to square up post driver to ground may be what you want. If you have ground with lots of hills, then you should order the post driver with hydraulic base plate and stand.



• The rear mount base plate mounts on your tractor's category 1 or 2 three point hitch for this model. The front mounting kit is specific to your tractor and we will need to know the make and model of tractor (front kits available for most tractors). If you ordera front mount kit, keep in mind you may have to run extra hydraulic hose to front of tractor if you don't have a front hydraulic outlet.




Information on mounting the units on skid loaders - please read

• The skid steer mounting package allows you to mount the post driver to the arms on your skid steer loader. There is a mounting kit for skid steer loaders that have a plastic fluid reservoir tank, and a mounting kit for skid steer loaders with a steel reservoir tank. You can use the plastic tank kit on all skid steer loaders however as it is the best installation, and may be as easy to do as the standard with return line fitting. In all cases on skid loader applications, the standard mounting for either steel or plastic tanks will require either splicing into the hydraulic lines (probably at the oil cooler), or inserting a fitting into the line without modification, but you may have to relocate the oil cooler to give you room to insert the fitting into the hydraulic line. The initial installation of the return line fitting may require some fabrication, but by doing it this way you will be able to acquire a post driver for the least cost.



• You might also just want to order the self-contained skid steer mounting package which has it's own hydraulic motor and reservoir so you can just plug the unit into the pressure and return line of your skid loader and power it off your system that way. This mounting kit is more expensive but is easier to install and can be used on different skid loaders. The standard installation is semi-permanent and designed for users that will use the driver on one primary skid loader.



• These post drivers use a non-pressurized return line and YOU CANNOT PLUG THE RETURN LINE INTO YOUR PRESSURIZED AUXILLARY RETURN LINE OUTLET on the standard mounting packages. To plug into both the pressure and return line of your skid loader's auxillary outlet, you would need to purchase the Self-Contained mounting package with motor and reservoir.



• A return line fitting must be used on the standard installation (either purchased from us or you can make your own). On tractor applications, the return line fitting normally replaces the filler cap and presses in or screws on like the OEM reservoir fill cap for an easy installation. For skid steer loaders, the fitting will usually be a T-fitting that installs between the hydraulic system oil cooler and the filter. The fitting will have screw fittings on each end to re-attach to the existing hydraulic line. The third leg of the tee will have pipe threads which when in use you will slide the return line over this leg. When you want to remove the return line, you will screw on a standard pipe cap to shut off the fitting. If the hydraulic line between the oil cooler and filter cannot be bent or moved to easily allow installation of the T-fitting, then remounting of either the oil cooler or filter may be required to give you the room needed to insert the fitting in the line. While some effort is required for this installation, this is how you can get a basic post driver at the lowest cost available.



• Information On The Skid Steer Mounting Package For Skid Steer Loaders With Plastic Hydraulic Reservoir Tanks: The skid steer mounting package for skid steer loaders with plastic tanks consists of several different pieces. The main components are high pressure braided hoses, quick couplers, some grommets and bushings, and a flow divider. This mounting/by pass kit was recommended by New Holland for all their skid steers and was engineered for those requirements. This mounting kit is recommended for all skid steer loaders with plastic reservoir tanks to prevent tank rupture caused by the return of the hydraulic fluid into the tank when using the post driver. This installation can be used on all skid loaders including units with metal tanks. It is the preferred installation for applications where you will be using the post driver on only one particular skid loader as this is a semi-permanent installation in the hydraulic lines.



• You may also want to use the skid steer mounting package with flow divider on all units because: on skid steer applications you will have some back pressure in the system. The non-pressurized return line of the post driver must be plumbed into the system where there is the smallest amount of pressure; many times this is between the oil cooler and filter for example. The easiest place to insert the return line however, is usually into the fill cap of the reservoir as long as this doesn't activate the low pressure light in the system. You can try doing this; you can just insert the hose and tape it in place, or make your own fitting for the cap and see if it will work. You can also order the return line fitting which for many models of skid steer loader will be a T fitting which is designed to be inserted in the hydraulic line (has screw on type ends to attach to the pre-existing lines) and the third leg of the T allows you to slide the return line onto it and clamp it. You may have to move the oil cooler mounting several inches or modify or make a new line to insert the fitting in the line, so keep this in mind. A second alternative is to use the Skid steer mounting package for plastic reservoir tanks which has a flow divider to relieve some of the system pressure and remove the surge from the return line; this will still require some installation but may be a better installation.



• If you want the least expensive post driver set up and you have one skid loader that you will always use this driver on then this is the type of post driver you want.



• Also available is the Self-Contained Skid Steer Mounting Packages. If you are a contractor or rental yard and need to use the driver on different skid loaders, then the preferred application is the self-contained package with its own motor and reservoir that connects to both the pressure and return lines on the auxillary outlet.



• If you have an old skid steer or tractor with low capacity hydraulics, then the self-contained reservoir and motor set-up is also the best option for skid steer mounting.



• Hydraulic requirements are 3-4 gpm at 1500 psi (If your system doesn't meet these requirements, see the self-contained mounting kits below)

Holds and centers the post in the post driver's main channel so you don't have to hold it in place by hand. This attachment fits on all models (HD8, HD10, and HD12). The Safety Arm Attachment fits all Shaver Model Post Drivers and is easy to attach. The unit bolts to the back of the Driving Ram with 2 Bolts provided. The spring-loaded attachment holds the post in the Driving Ram securely to keep the operator away from the impact area and helps the operator drive a straighter post from start to finish.


The Safety Arm Attachment is very easy to operate. Just open the unit, place the post in the Driving Ram and close the Arm to secure the post. It’s that simple. The adjustable Roller Assembly allows the operator to keep the Arm at its desired tension during operation.
