Mclane Standard Type Reel Mowers

The Mclane Standard Type Engine Powered Walk Behind Reel Mowers are designed for cutting grass Bermuda type grass on your lawn or on the fairway where the cutting height is between 1/4 inch to 2 1/2 inches. Mowers are available in cutting widths of 17, 20, and 25 inches and are available in push type (17 inch model only) and self-propelled. Mowers are available with Briggs and Stratton engines as listed below. All models come with a poly grass catcher standard. Models are currently available with 7 and 10 blade reels for the best cut available in a walk-behind mower. These easy to operate and maintain reel mowers are used by both homeowners and professionals world wide.

    • Sharpening (Backlapping) Kits for 20 and 25 Inch Mclane Standard Series Mowers
  • Backlapp (sharpening) kit for the 20 and 25 inch wide standard series mowers on this page, kit includes: a chain guard; long chain; 1/4 inch hex wrench; 8 tooth sprocket; and an adapter plate assembly with two sprockets in position, kit allows you to turn the reel backwards under engine power so you can hone (backlapp) the blades. Backlapping allows the blades to be sharpened without removing the reel from the frame. Reels are hardened so that many years of backlapping can usually be done before a reel would ever need to be replaced.


  • Please Note: THESE KITS ONLY FIT MCLANE REEL MOWERS MANUFACTURED AFTER 1990. Units before 1990 have the reel bearings mounted on the outside of the side plates of the frame. Models with the bearings mounted on the inside of the side plates are newer models that can be used with the kits below. Sharpening kits are not available for 1990 and earlier models.
