Tractor And Skid Steer Loader Mounted Hydraulic Logsplitters
These Tractor And Skid Steer Mounted Hydraulic Logsplitters are available in several different sizes and power ratings. Models are available to split either 24 inch long or 36 inch long logs, and available in ratings of 20, 25, and 30 tons. The standard blade is a 2-way blade, but a 4-way blade is available as an accessory for a small cost. These units also have a good warranty - 1 year on the complete unit, and 4 years on the hydraulic cylinder. The three point hitch models fit either category 1 or 2 three point hitches, so they will fit on a wide size range of tractors; the skid steer version will fit on any skid steer loader with quick attach. If you have an old skid steer with pin mountings we can supply an optional skid steer adapter plate.
Versions available for category 1 and 2 three point mounting, and skid steer loader mounting
20, 25, and 30 ton models available
Units operate in both the horizontal and vertical position, and can be raised waist high in the horizontal position to load logs into the tray from a pickup bed or trailer bed
Switching between horizontal and vertical splitting position is as easy as pulling a pin
Double you splitting effieciency by inserting the optional splitter blade
All units are built tough for and are designed for use by farmers and on acreages, and the 36 inch models are great for use by farmers, rental operations, and contractors
How To Calculate Cycle Time On The Logsplitters
Formula is: 3.1416 x cylinder rod radius squared x Length of cylinder = Volume measured in Cubic Inches
Cubic Inches convert to Gallons at 231 cubic inches per one gallon.
The volume in gallons will be the volume that fills the cylinder on the extension stroke. Dividing the output of either your tractor's hydraulic pump divided by the volume required when extending the cylinder will give you the time for the stroke on extension, and then multiply that by 2 for total cycle time and this will give you a good measurement for cycle time.
Here is an example using a cylinder with a 24 inch long cylinder rod x 4 inch diameter rod
3.1416 x 4 inch cylinder rod diameter divided by 2 = 2 and then squared = 4 x length of cylinder (24 inches) = 301.44 cubic inches
301.44 cubic inches divided by 231 cubic inches = 1.3 gallons volume in cylinder
Now lets use the minimum 10 gallons per minute required to efficiently operate this unit - so 1.3 gallons of volume on the cylinder extension stroke divided by 10 gallons per minute pumping capacity = .13 minutes, 60 seconds per minute x .13 = 7.8 seconds for the extension stroke at that volume, multiply x 2 = 15.6 seconds total cycle time, this will give you a good estimate to compare different models by.
The last variable is pressure. On the logsplitters we also give the pressure required from the pump as well. If your pump also meets the minimum pressure requirement, then this estimate will be accurate.
An increase in gallons per minute will decrease cycle time, a decrease in gpm will increase cycle time, and again you want to be above the minimum recommended shown for each model
